About Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park Pensacola

Uncle Sandy's Macaw Bird Park in Pensacola is a nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to the rescue and care of unwanted parrots and other exotic birds. Visitors interact directly with many varieties of parrots, including macaws, in open aviaries where the birds can fly freely. The park was founded by Uncle Sandy, who retired and built a large free-flight aviary for his macaws after growing up in Honduras surrounded by these majestic birds. When neighbors became curious about the calls of his macaws, he welcomed them to visit. Over time, abandoned birds arrived at his door, and he established the sanctuary to provide them refuge while educating the public. Each admission includes one cup of food for feeding the birds. The park operates on limited seasonal hours based on volunteer availability and welcomes groups seeking to arrange tours in advance.
