About Tigertail Airboat Tours

Tigertail Airboat Tours operates guided airboat excursions through the Everglades from the Miccosukee reservation near Miami. Visitors ride airboats across open waters and sawgrass trails to hammocks, or tree islands, that the Tigertail family has owned for generations. The company is one of only four permitted to operate in Water Conservation Area 3a and the only one offering private tours. On the family's private hammock, originally a hunting camp, the operation raises and rehabilitates young alligators and turtles, and cares for abandoned and injured wildlife. Guests handle baby alligators and turtles while learning about Everglades wildlife and local history. Three tour lengths are available: a thirty-minute walk-in tour stopping at the private hammock; a one-hour tour adding a second hammock where the Tigertail family once lived and wild alligators inhabit; and a two-hour tour exploring both islands with extended wildlife viewing opportunities. Group rates, night tours, and specialized excursions such as bird watching are available by arrangement.
