About Three Rivers Rambler

The Three Rivers Rambler is a heritage railway operation offering scenic train rides from downtown Knoxville along the Tennessee River. Passengers board at the depot located at University Commons near the University of Tennessee Campus and travel eleven miles past historical sites, farmland, and Knoxville's first settlement area to the Three Rivers Trestle, where the French Broad and Holston Rivers converge to form the Tennessee River. Uniformed conductors and volunteer staff provide narration about local history throughout the journey. The train features open-air cars and operates with steam engine No. 203 "Lindy" or diesel power. Onboard facilities include two restrooms, and drinks and snacks are available for purchase, though visitors may bring their own non-alcoholic refreshments. The operation runs in all weather conditions. Birthday parties and corporate gatherings can be arranged as private charters. The depot is surrounded by nearby stores and restaurants and offers free parking.
