Historic Ramsey House is a stone mansion built in 1797 from locally sourced pink marble and blue limestone in Knoxville, Tennessee. Visitors take guided tours through the original structure to explore frontier life and the Ramsey family's contributions to Tennessee's founding. The tour includes the frontier kitchen, period furnishings, the blacksmith shop, and exhibits about enslaved persons at the property. Students and groups participate in hands-on activities such as playing historical games, churning butter, writing court summons with quill and ink, dipping candles, and creating heritage bracelets. The house stands on Swan Pond, over 100 acres of preserved original farmland. Educational programs explore daily life on America's first frontier, the challenges faced by Revolutionary War patriots' families, and the divisions of the Civil War. The site offers a picnic area, indoor eating facilities, restrooms, and a museum gift shop.
