About The Wren's Nest

The Wren's Nest, the historic home of author and journalist Joel Chandler Harris, is a house museum and National Historic Landmark in Atlanta's West End neighborhood where visitors explore each room to learn about Harris's life, the Brer Rabbit folktales in American literature, and Atlanta history. Guided tours last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and run on Saturdays at multiple times throughout the day. Every Saturday at 1 p.m., professional storytellers perform the tales in their original spirit, with performances lasting 25 to 35 minutes. Tours and storytelling are optional activities, and tickets are sold online through the venue's website. The museum also hosts youth writing workshops, including Scribes Camp, where young writers explore character building and world creation. Special seasonal events include Victorian holiday celebrations with period games, festive treats, and professional portrait photography. The Wren's Nest accommodates wheelchair users and welcomes individuals, large groups, and field trips for private tours. The venue is located in Atlanta, Georgia.
