The Patagonia Museum, housed in the 1914 Patagonia Grammar School on School Street, preserves the culture and history of eastern Santa Cruz County. Visitors explore archaeological exhibits curated from the museum's collection, including finds from the Patagonia area and Sonoita Creek. The museum presents rotating exhibits that connect archaeology with local art and heritage. A major focus of the organization involves maintaining the historic 1914 Grammar School building itself and preserving the territorial Lochiel Schoolhouse, built before 1905. Restoration of the Lochiel Schoolhouse was completed in spring 2022. The museum hosts guest speakers and programs addressing regional archaeology and history. The museum is open Thursday through Saturday afternoons, with other visits available by appointment. The Patagonia Museum operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting and preserving local heritage.
