About Texas Pharmacy Museum

The Texas Pharmacy Museum preserves the history of pharmacy through more than 12,000 artifacts collected from across Texas and beyond. Visitors explore a recreated early 20th century pharmacy, examine tools of the trade, and view pharmacy products and delivery systems including vintage inhalers and medicine bottles. The museum's collections include pharmacy-related literature and graphic materials, drug store sideline objects, and a dedicated room honoring Texas pharmacy practitioners. Guided tours are available through the museum's curator. The collection has grown through donations from more than 150 contributors representing communities across Texas and several other states. The museum, opened in 1998, is one of only two in Texas specializing in pharmacy history and among a few nationally to be affiliated with a pharmacy school, making it a unique educational resource. It serves pharmacy students, faculty and staff as both a research center and laboratory. The museum is located in the basement of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy building in Amarillo.
