About Amarillo Museum of Art

The Amarillo Museum of Art in Amarillo, Texas showcases rotating exhibitions of paintings, sculpture, and works in all media, with approximately fifteen exhibitions presented each year. The permanent collection includes more than 2000 works spanning Asian and Western art, with particular strength in modern and contemporary American pieces. The museum also features the Dr. and Mrs. William T. Price Collection of Asian art objects. Visitors explore galleries at their own pace or participate in guided tours designed around Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills curriculum standards. The museum offers art classes through its Museum School, lectures, gallery talks, and family programming including Family Days and artafterdark community events. School groups throughout the Texas Panhandle access free tours where students view exhibitions and create original artwork to take home. General admission is free. The museum, located in the Amarillo Cultural District within a complex designed by renowned architect Edward Durell Stone, operates Wednesday through Sunday.
