Terror on the Square is a professional haunted tour operating in a restored 1930s funeral home in Petersburg, Illinois. Visitors experience a guided tour featuring ghost illusions and special effects throughout the building, which was originally operated as a funeral parlor by H. P. Satorius. The attraction uses strobes and fog machines to enhance the experience. Groups tour in sizes up to six people. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and infants are not permitted due to the dark atmosphere and jump scares. Salem on Seventh, an art deco theater on the ground floor with vintage woodwork and refurbished seats from an old Petersburg movie theater, hosts silent horror films at no charge while tours operate. A concession area offers snacks. The Terror Shoppe, open nightly, sells spooky items including skulls, gargoyles, toys, and official Terror merchandise before or after tours.
