The Surfing Florida Museum in West Palm Beach preserves and exhibits the history of surfing in Florida with an emphasis on Palm Beach County. Visitors explore the museum's collection of historic surfboards, memorabilia, photographs, film, and an extensive archive documenting the sport's development. The museum displays 72 photos and text panels depicting Florida's surfing heritage, including images from photographer M.E. Gruber's collection of over 5,000 Kodachrome transparencies documenting surfers from the 1960s and 1970s. The museum features recorded oral histories and a library alongside its physical exhibits housed in the West Palm Beach Warehouse District. Founded in 2008 as the Palm Beach County Surfing History Project by surfers Fred Salmon, Corky Roche, Tom Warnke, and Bill Keeton, the museum opened in Delray Beach before relocating to its current West Palm Beach location, where it occupies more than 8,000 square feet and hosts thousands of visitors annually.
