Smith-Gilbert Gardens, a 17-acre botanical garden in Kennesaw, features the historic Hiram Butler House surrounded by thousands of plants and 31 sculptures connected by woodland paths. Visitors explore distinct garden areas including the Bonsai exhibit, Palladino Camellia Garden, Garden with Wings butterfly house, Japanese Maple Grove, Conifer Display, koi ponds, and Crevice Garden. The Living Laboratory and Imagination Station engage children with hands-on discovery. Seasonal exhibits showcase rare plantings, wildlife, and art installations that change throughout the year. Regular programs include Discover Bonsai sessions on the second Saturday of each month, where staff demonstrate care and pruning techniques. Classes and workshops cover topics like bonsai maintenance and making art from natural materials. The gardens host Art Blooms in spring, an annual exhibit featuring temporary sculptures by local and regional artists alongside immersive theater and artist workshops. Smith-Gilbert Gardens is open Tuesday through Saturday, and tickets are sold online through the venue's website.
