About Shriver House Museum at Gettysburg
The Shriver House Museum offers guided tours through a restored 1860 home that tells the civilian side of the Battle of Gettysburg. Visitors walk room to room with a guide in period attire, learning the story of the Shriver family—George, Hettie, Sadie, and Mollie—and how their lives changed before, during, and after the Civil War. The house was occupied by Confederate sharpshooters during the battle, and tours highlight original artifacts and preserved bullet holes discovered during restoration. The museum is located in downtown Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and opens daily. Group tours of 10 or more qualify for discounted rates with advanced reservations. A gift shop sells books, souvenirs, and locally made goods. Children 5 and under are free when accompanied by an adult, and active duty military receive free admission, according to shriverhouse.org.
