About San Benito County Historical Society

The San Benito County Historical Society preserves and presents the history of San Benito County through multiple locations in Hollister and surrounding areas. The Wapple House Museum, located at 498 Fifth Street in Hollister, displays artifacts from the society's collection and is open Fridays and Saturdays. Within the same building, the Research Center archives contain newspapers, family histories, local histories, county records and other historical resources related to the county. Volunteers in the Research Room respond to requests from across the country for historical information. The Historical Village, situated one mile south of Tres Pinos on Highway 25 within San Benito County Historical Park, features a Visitor Center open on Saturdays. The society also maintains the Dunneville Dance Hall, a historic venue available for events. Founded in 1956 by citizens committed to preserving San Benito County's heritage, the organization relies on volunteers to protect and promote local history through these facilities and collections.
