Sacramento Zoo is a nonprofit educational facility housing over 300 native, rare, and endangered animals representing more than 90 species. Visitors walk through exhibits featuring giraffes, Caribbean flamingos, red pandas, and thick-billed parrots while participating in activities such as the Quack Tracks scavenger hunt. The zoo offers behind-the-scenes tours, Nature Explorers programs on the second Saturday of each month, Little Peeps pre-K classes, Girl Scout Badge Days, family and scout overnight safaris, and summer camp. Special events include Zoo After Hours evenings, Wine on the Wild Side tastings pairing fine wines from over 30 local wineries with animal viewing, and the Twilight Safari Gala.
