About Riverhead Raceway

Riverhead Raceway is a quarter-mile high-banked asphalt oval located in Riverhead, New York, where visitors watch stock car racing and motorsports spectacles on Saturday nights. The track hosts NASCAR-sanctioned racing featuring Modified cars and special events such as the School Bus Demolition Derby. Built in 1949 and opened as a dirt oval in 1951, it was paved with asphalt in 1955 and remains the only NASCAR-sanctioned stock car racing facility in the New York metropolitan area. The venue draws drivers and fans from across the tri-state region throughout its racing season. General parking is free, and the track welcomes families, with children five and under often admitted free at specific events. The facility sells ear protection at its souvenir stand for those concerned about noise from the race cars. Tickets are sold online through the venue's website.
