About Plant City History & Photo Archives
Plant City History & Photo Archives preserves and shares the historical photographs, documents, and stories of Plant City and East Hillsborough County. Visitors explore a collection of more than 100,000 historical photographs and documents spanning 140 years, along with maps, newspapers, and yearbooks. The archives feature themed collections focused on railroads, local legends and icons, veterans, noted local businesses, couples, and Strawberry Festival queens and activities. The research library provides open access to digitized materials for residents, families, students, and historians investigating the people and places that shaped the region. General admission is free. The organization began in 2000 with photographs from a renowned local photographer's estate and expanded in 2010 with the establishment of the Dr. Scotty & Hsiu Huang History Center. The downtown Plant City location offers a dedicated space for preserving and exploring the community's heritage through browsing collections and discovering the stories behind historical images.
