The Odessa Meteor Crater Museum in Odessa invites visitors to explore a natural impact site and its museum exhibits. The main museum room displays Odessa meteorites alongside specimens from Argentina, China, Russia, Africa, and Australia, with additional exhibits on planets, the solar system, and outer space materials. Large glass windows in an attached hallway allow indoor viewing of the crater itself. A self-guided walking tour follows a natural path with some paving through the center of the crater, taking five to ten minutes and recently smoothed for wheelchair accessibility. A steep paved incline runs toward the back. The site offers two pavilions with picnic tables, a patio with additional seating, and a large parking lot accommodating trucks and trailers. The crater supports wildlife including bobcat, badger, ground squirrel, burrowing owls, coyote, rabbits, deer, Texas horned frogs, and jack rabbits. The museum features ADA-accessible restrooms and provides free water. General admission is free.
Admission is free. The venue says: “There is no admission fee, as we are donation based.”
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
