About Nimisila Campgrounds

Nimisila Campgrounds is a reservoir-based park in Akron, Ohio where visitors fish, paddle and camp across 825 acres of water and shoreline. The largest body of water in Summit Metro Parks, Nimisila is known for channel catfish and largemouth bass, with chances to catch Northern pike, walleye, bluegill and yellow perch. The reservoir has 16 miles of shoreline, four boat launches and a maximum depth around 30 feet, with only electric boat motors permitted for a quieter experience. Trails throughout the park range from accessible routes to primitive paths. Birders visit to spot waterfowl, eagles, osprey and purple martins during migration season. The area holds historical significance as a trading post and War of 1812 landmark. A visit suits anglers of all skill levels, families exploring trails and paddlers seeking calm water conditions in the Akron area.
