The National Road and Zane Grey Museum in Norwich, Ohio combines three distinct exhibits in one location. Visitors explore a 136-foot diorama showing how dense forest evolved into a busy interstate highway, with a Conestoga wagon displaying how pioneers traveled into Ohio's uncharted territory. The museum honors Zane Grey, the renowned western author known as the father of the western novel, through displays about his life and work. Guests can view a recreation of the study where he conceived his stories and examine a book of letters between Zane and his wife Dolly. The third exhibit displays dozens of examples of regional pottery, from utilitarian to art pottery, showing how the clay industry built the local economy. Guided tours average about an hour and include stops at a 3D map, a tavern recreation, and an optional classroom film. Self-guided tours are also available.
