About Mulberry Phosphate Museum

The Mulberry Phosphate Museum houses an outstanding collection of fossilized remains, area memorabilia, and educational exhibits on the phosphate industry in Mulberry, Florida's phosphate capital. Visitors walk through galleries displaying the Earth's past, including marine life, reptiles, and mammals dating back millions of years. The Fossil Gallery, located in a historic train depot, features fossils acquired from the Bone Valley Fossil Collection, including whales, dolphins, sharks, tortoises, rhinos, giraffes, and arrowheads. The Phosphate Gallery explains phosphate's essential role in growing food and replenishing natural landscapes. The History Gallery covers old mining towns and local history. Interactive features include the Dragline Dig Pile, where visitors can dig for shark teeth and prehistoric animal remains behind a 44-yard dragline bucket once used to extract phosphate rock. The museum also displays an 1880s Manchester 4-4-0 locomotive buried underground for nearly 80 years before discovery in 2012, and a Seaboard Coast Line caboose visitors can tour to experience railroad life.
