About Clermont Historic Village Museum

Clermont Historic Village Museum preserves the history of pioneering families in South Lake County from the late 1800s through World War II. Visitors explore a collection of historic buildings and exhibits that showcase early settlement life. The village includes the Cooper Memorial Library, built around 1914, and the Railroad Depot from 1925, which connects to the history of the Orange Belt Railway. The Quonset Hut World War II Museum documents the naval history of Florida's coast during wartime. Other structures include the Kern House from 1885, the Townsend House from 1895, Grace Chapel, the Herring Hooks Schoolhouse, and a replica outhouse. A Little Free Library offers a book-sharing exchange. The museum suits students and visitors of all ages interested in local history and how people lived in earlier times. Located in Clermont, Florida, the village opens on weekends and accommodates group tours by appointment.
