About Marble Springs State Historic Site
Marble Springs State Historic Site preserves the last home and farm of John Sevier, Tennessee's first governor, where visitors tour historic structures including a period tavern, kitchen, cabin, loom house, and spring house that interpret the state's early frontier history. The site sits on over 30 acres of wooded grounds where guests walk nature trails, picnic under a pavilion, and browse the Trading Post gift shop for locally made gifts and memorabilia. Guided tours of the cabins last 45 minutes to an hour, with multiple daily tour times available. The site hosts educational programs, field trips, and special events including the annual Statehood Day celebration. Children 4 years and under receive free admission to guided tours, while adults and older children pay admission fees that the venue publishes online. Marble Springs State Historic Site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has served as an educational resource for area schools for more than 50 years in Knoxville.
