About Marble Springs State Historic Site

Marble Springs State Historic Site is the last home and farm of John Sevier, Tennessee's first governor, elected in 1796. The site preserves the frontier history of early Tennessee through historic structures including a period tavern, kitchen, cabin, loom house, and spring house. Visitors tour these buildings, walk nature trails through over 30 acres of wooded grounds, and picnic under the site's pavilion. The property is named for its natural springs and the Tennessee pink marble quarried nearby. Guided tours of the cabins last 45 minutes to an hour and are available at scheduled times. The Trading Post gift shop offers locally made gifts and memorabilia. Marble Springs is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and holds an Award of Excellence from the Tennessee Association of Museums. The site serves as an educational resource for school field trips and programs throughout the year.
