Litzenberg Memorial Woods spans 227.7 acres of rolling countryside, wooded ravines, wetlands, and prairie on both sides of U.S. Route 224 West in Findlay. Visitors explore the restored 1847 McKinnis House, a 19th-century garden, and nearby outbuildings that represent the area's pioneering heritage. Costumed interpreters conduct living history programs throughout the year, portraying McKinnis family members and neighbors to demonstrate 19th-century life. The property offers multiple trails for hiking and exploration, including nature trails, a multi-use trail, and a bridle trail called the Backwoods Trail. An activity barn, picnic shelter, playground, and heritage trail provide additional ways to experience the landscape. Families and history enthusiasts can spend a day walking the grounds, learning about early Hancock County settlement, enjoying outdoor recreation, and picnicking among historic structures set within a working conservation landscape.
