About Limper Geology Museum

The Karl E. Limper Geology Museum, located in Shideler Hall on Miami University's Oxford campus, displays hundreds of geological specimens to help visitors understand basic geological concepts. The museum's collections feature world-famous fossils from southwestern Ohio along with minerals, rocks, fossils, and meteorites gathered from around the globe. Visitors of all ages can explore these displays during weekday hours published on the museum's website. The museum accommodates school groups, homeschool classes, scout leaders, and community organizations; groups of fewer than thirty students fit comfortably, while larger groups can rotate between the Limper Museum and other campus museums like the Hefner Museum of Natural History. The museum can also help organize or assist with local geology field trips for visiting groups. Those wishing to bring a class or group should contact the Department of Geology and Environmental Earth Science to reserve a date.
