About Lichterman Nature Center

Lichterman Nature Center is a 65-acre urban wildlife refuge in Memphis where visitors explore nature through exhibits, hiking trails, and animal encounters. The center features nearly three miles of hiking trails winding through lake, meadow, and forest habitat. The Visitor Center contains exhibits about the local environment. The Backyard Wildlife Center houses over 50 native species including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects that visitors might encounter on trails or in their own neighborhoods. Discovery Forest is an unstructured play area with guided trails, picnic tables, and natural materials for creative outdoor play. The center also operates a greenhouse and nursery where native plants are grown and sold. Native wildflowers and trees throughout the grounds support the center's environmental education mission. The facility is open Wednesday through Sunday with tickets sold online through the venue's website.
