Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum occupies 44 acres of the former Howell Nurseries in East Knoxville, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors explore 18 display gardens featuring local, ornamental, and exotic flora, walk two miles of distinctive stone walls and trails, and discover 16 historic structures including the Howell family home and iconic stone roundhouses. The historic Howell House Visitors Center serves as the main entry point and houses a gift shop and public restrooms. The Garden hosts seasonal programs such as Sightseers, a drawing club for plant enthusiasts, and Family Garden Day with hands-on nature activities and lawn games. Discovery Packs turn visits into hands-on adventures with books and tools for exploration. Group guided tours are available for deeper engagement with the gardens, trails, and history.
