About James Millikin Homestead
The James Millikin Homestead in Decatur, Illinois is the former residence of James and Anna B. Millikin, founders of Millikin University, Millikin Bank, and the Anna B. Millikin Home. Visitors explore the historic house to learn about the Millikins' contributions to Decatur's development and their philanthropic legacy. The homestead hosts annual meetings open to the general public featuring speakers who discuss regional history and notable figures. Past programs have included presentations on sculptor Ida McClelland Stout, who grew up on Decatur's West End, and Abraham Lincoln history by Millikin University professors.
