About Historical & Genealogical Society of Indiana County
The Historical & Genealogical Society of Indiana County invites visitors to trace family ancestry and explore the region's past at two historic buildings in Indiana, Pennsylvania. The Helman Library provides genealogical and historical research resources for Indiana County families. The Armory's first floor exhibits the county's history from wilderness through the present day, while the upstairs military exhibit honors armed forces members from the French and Indian War onward. The adjacent Silas M. Clark House, a restored Victorian structure, features guided tours by appointment. The society hosts special events including the Fall Victorian Tea at the Clark House and the Annual Piano Program, which showcases the house's historic pianos. The complex occupies the old National Guard Armory near downtown and includes two buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. School groups, clubs, and bus tours of more than ten people should be scheduled in advance.
