About Johnstown Children's Museum

Johnstown Children's Museum features the Inclimber Room, a huge reproduction of Yoder Hill where kids climb mine tunnels toward the ceiling, dress as coal miners in hard hats with lights and orange vests, and slide down a coal chute into a padded coal car. The museum occupies the third floor of the Heritage Discovery Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and lets children explore the region's geography, history, culture, ecology, and industry through hands-on play. The Water Room offers exhibits about dam-building, municipal plumbing, and native fish. Other areas include the Career Corner with dress-up clothes and a doctor's office, the Wentzscope microscope for young explorers, the Inclimber's replica of the Inclined Plane, and free play zones with blocks, Lego bricks, and wooden trains. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families receiving SNAP or WIC benefits can present their card for reduced admission of three dollars per person, up to four people, according to heritagejohnstown.org.
