About Hillcrest Orchards

Hillcrest Orchards is a family-owned farm in Ellijay where visitors pick their own apples directly from the trees, with varieties sized small enough for young children to harvest. The orchard has operated since 1946, when founder Hayward Reece began growing apples after returning from World War II, and now spans four generations of family farming. Beyond apple picking, the farm offers a petting zoo and multiple photo opportunities throughout the grounds, including an apple toss station, blue sky cutout photo spot, hat display, orchard view, and tractor pose setup. Visitors meet the farming family and learn about agricultural heritage while creating memories on the working farm. The property suits families seeking hands-on farm experiences and those interested in the history of local agriculture. Hillcrest Orchards is located nine miles east of Ellijay on Highway 52 East, accessible from both Atlanta and Dawsonville routes.
