About Tabor House Museum - Gilmer County Historical Society
Tabor House Museum, operated by the Gilmer County Historical Society, preserves and presents the history and heritage of North Georgia. Visitors tour the house to view artifacts and exhibits that tell local stories, including Native American history related to the Cherokee. The museum's knowledgeable volunteer guides lead tours tailored to match each visitor's interests, allowing guests to examine items on display and spend anywhere from under an hour to ninety minutes or more exploring. The museum accommodates groups of six or more by arrangement outside normal business hours. General admission is free. Located one block off the town square in Ellijay, the museum operates Thursday and Friday afternoons, plus Saturday mornings during the first four Saturdays of each month. The Gilmer County Historical Society welcomes volunteers for tour guide positions, historic research, general maintenance, and gardening work.
