Evergreen Farms Christmas Tree in Elgin is a family farm where visitors select and harvest their own Christmas trees during the season. The farm grows Leyland Cypress and Pine varieties. Beyond tree harvesting, the property hosts a Pumpkin Hunt activity that draws thousands of Central Texas visitors. The farm includes a gift shop and concession stand. Educational tours are available for children and adults led by Beth Walterscheidt, a retired middle school teacher. The farm is home to a donkey, goats, and barn cats that visitors may encounter. Founded in 1989 by Mike and Beth Walterscheidt on Monkey Road, the operation grew from the owners' experience running a Christmas tree farm in Bryan. Mike is a retired forestry professor from Texas A&M University with expertise in Texas trees.
