About Desert Meadows Park

Desert Meadows Park is a 4.2-acre botanical garden in Green Valley where visitors walk trails through native plantings and wildlife habitats. The park features demonstration gardens showcasing arid land plants and water conservation techniques, with views of the Santa Rita Mountains. A community garden contains 30 raised beds for growing vegetables and herbs. Visitors can rest at picnic sites throughout the grounds or sit beneath a grape arbor and ramada structures. The park was designed by a landscape architect experienced in desert gardens and developed by Green Valley Gardeners as a community service project. Construction involved youth apprentices who gained job training while building the park's infrastructure. The combination of walking paths, planted areas, gathering spaces and community garden beds creates a multi-purpose space suited to families, gardeners and residents seeking outdoor recreation and education about desert plants.
