Chinsegut Hill Historic Site in Brooksville is a historic house set atop one of Florida's highest elevations within a 114-acre preserve. Visitors take guided tours on weekends at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. to explore more than 170 years of Florida history, from prehistoric people and pioneer settlers through the pre-Civil War plantation era and emancipation of enslaved people. During the 1920s and 1930s, the home hosted progressive-era figures including Thomas Edison, Helen Keller, and author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings before owners donated the property to the government. A visit consists of a guided tour through the historic house and grounds. Four admission discounts are available: families with a SNAP or EBT card receive free admission for the cardholder plus three guests, active military and veterans receive discounted tickets with valid ID, Blue Star Museums members get free admission, and patrons with library passes from participating county systems enter free. Details and tickets are available at tampabayhistorycenter.org.
Hours: Weekend tours start at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday
