About Catalina Museum For Art & History

Catalina Museum for Art & History in Avalon showcases rotating art and history exhibitions featuring contemporary artists and cultural works. Visitors view installations such as "The Blue Forest," an immersive installation by marine scientist and artist Oriana Poindexter, and "Narsiso Martinez: Witnesses of Labor," which presents portraits of farm workers created through drawing, painting, and sculptural interventions on produce boxes. The museum hosts the annual Tamale Festival and Oktoberfest, screens summer movies in its outdoor amphitheater, and offers "Art to Go" kits for children. Group tours of the museum and the historic Tuna Club can be arranged for weekend getaways, reunions, birthday parties, golf trips, and fishing outings. The facility accommodates weddings, quinceañeras, graduations, and other celebrations. The museum operates daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours during summer months.
