About Bush Family Home State Historic Site

Bush Family Home State Historic Site preserves the 1948 residence of George and Barbara Bush in Midland, a National Register property restored to the early 1950s. Visitors tour rooms including the playroom, kitchen, and George Bush's bedroom and desk while viewing exhibits and period furnishings that document the family's lives during those formative years. The site interprets the political legacy of two U.S. Presidents, two Governors, and a First Lady who shaped late 20th and early 21st century politics. Tours run Tuesday through Saturday, with the last tour beginning at 4:15 p.m. The site offers youth programs including a junior docent program, youth advisory council, and clubs focused on 1950s history and science. Admission is charged; children age 5 and under are admitted free.
