About Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium

The Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium takes visitors on immersive journeys through stars, planets, galaxies, and beyond under a 35-foot dome equipped with state-of-the-art projection and sound systems. Shows combine a Zeiss ZKP4 star projector, Spitz SciDome 4K digital projection, and AVI SkyLase laser system to bring astronomy, music, art, and wellness topics to life. The 48-seat theater features 5.1 surround sound and chromatic LED lighting. Laser music experiences provide high-energy presentations, while programs designed for young explorers introduce children to the cosmos. The planetarium operates on Friday and Saturday evenings on the Buffalo State University campus in the Science and Mathematics Complex. Live presenters modify their talks for diverse audiences ranging from K-12 students to college students and adult groups.
