About Starlight Studio and Art Gallery

Starlight Studio and Art Gallery is a cooperative environment where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities create art under guidance from professional teaching artists. Visitors to the gallery encounter original work by Starlight artists who pursue painting, ceramics, printmaking, weaving, mixed media, and sculpture in the open studio setting. The public art gallery hosts regular exhibitions and openings, including shows like Star-tastic: Starlight Summer Art Show & Sale and the Starlight Members Show, where visitors can view and purchase original artwork. The studio program integrates community engagement through visits to museums, galleries, artists' studios, and performances. Participating artists also have the option to join writing groups, gardening activities, and cooking classes alongside their studio practice. A visit suits anyone interested in contemporary art created by working artists with disabilities and in supporting their creative careers. The studio is located in Buffalo, New York, and has operated since 2005 as part of Beyond Support Network.
