The West Florida Railroad Museum in Milton celebrates the impact of railroads on the Panhandle through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities. Visitors explore a combination freight and passenger depot, several outbuildings, static rail cars including the L&N Caboose #1148, two model railroads, railroad memorabilia, historic photographs, and documents spanning 140 years of Gulf Coast railroad history. Children can ride the kiddie train, weather permitting. The museum grounds and dining car are available to rent for private events, parties, and meetings. Visitors may take photographs throughout the museum and bring well-behaved leashed dogs. Private tours for field trips and large groups are available by advance reservation. General admission is free. The museum is located in Milton, Florida, and operates Friday and Saturday during daytime hours, with extended holiday schedules except on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
