About Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park

Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park invites visitors to paddle through tangled mangroves, tidal creeks and expansive salt marshes along four miles of pristine coastline in Port Richey. Guests can bring their own kayaks and canoes or rent them from the park's concessionaire. The Springs Trail winds through pine flatwoods and oak hammocks, passing several small artesian springs and sinks, with a tidal waterfall visible at low tide just past Salt Spring. Hiking trails include viewing stands on the Springs and Eagle trails where visitors might spot bald eagles, roseate spoonbills, black rails, hawks, wading birds and migratory songbirds. Accessible interpretive displays throughout the park share the area's history. The main entrance features restrooms, kayak and canoe launches, boardwalks, hiking trails and a picnic area. Though the park protects Gulf of America coastline, mangroves line the shoreline, preventing beach swimming within the park boundaries.
