Fancy going together?
The Union County Historical Society in Marysville preserves and displays objects relating to Union County's history through its Museum, where visitors walk through fourteen rooms filled with artifacts from bygone eras. The tour begins at a replica door from the boyhood home of Vice President Charles W. Fairbanks. Exhibits feature items made by area businesses and domestic objects including dower chests, mammy rockers, wooden plows, ice boxes, and pie safes that illustrate daily life in earlier times. The Museum displays Colonel Noah Orr's large chair and size fourteen shoes, belonging to the "Union County Giant" who stood nearly eight feet tall. The Society also maintains the Union County Records Center and Archives, accessible through behind-the-scenes tours. Visitors can tour the Doellinger-Geer Log Cabin, a German settlement landmark built in the area. The attraction offers anyone interested in learning about Union County's past the opportunity to engage with original artifacts and historic structures.
Hours: Wednesdays 12:30pm to 3:30pm, 1st and 3rd Sundays 1:00pm to 4:00pm
