Trolley Museum of New York preserves vintage streetcars from Germany, Belgium, Sweden, and Norway on display in its waterfront facility in Kingston. Visitors ride restored trolleys along the Rondout Waterfront line, with stops at T.R. Gallo Park, Kingston Point, and the museum entrance, where picnic tables overlook the water and riverside walking paths. The museum building houses a gift shop upstairs alongside interactive, hands-on exhibits for children, while the ground floor offers close viewing of the international trolley collection through an observation deck. Founded in 1955 to save vintage rail transportation from scrapping, the museum survived a devastating fire in 1991 and damage from Hurricane Sandy before relocating to its current waterfront home in 1983. Weekend visits span the spring and summer seasons, and the museum accepts group charters outside regular hours. A day ticket grants all-day access to both the trolleys and indoor exhibits.
