About International Museum of Dinnerware Design
International Museum of Dinnerware Design, located at 524 Broadway in Kingston's Mid-Town Arts District, displays masterpieces of tabletop design in gallery rooms featuring glass display cases on pedestals holding dinnerware sets. Visitors explore curated exhibitions such as Collecting by Design, which showcases thoughtfully designed dinnerware, contemporary artwork, and quirky dining objects acquired through purchase, donation, or bequest since the museum relocated to the Hudson Valley. The collection includes pieces like Brad Keeler's Lobster ware with glossy red ceramic lobsters, hand-embroidered cake slices featuring Blue Willow patterns, vintage Barbie kitchens, and paper napkins from early 1900s parties with handwritten dates and stories. The museum also hosts Zoom lectures part of the Unforgettable Dinnerware series, allowing visitors to engage with artists and historians discussing dinnerware's role in material culture. General admission is charged; active military and veterans receive free admission. Hours are published online, and the museum operates Thursday through Sunday.
