The museum presents temporary exhibitions of work by contemporary Western artists alongside pieces by historical masters, with themed displays exploring famous ranches and other aspects of Western history. The Griff Carnes Research Center provides a 6,000-volume library of Western art and history materials for educators, students, and researchers. An outdoor pavilion hosts art education programs and events.
