About Shingle Creek Regional Park - Steffee Landing - The Paddling Center

Shingle Creek Regional Park - Steffee Landing - The Paddling Center sits at the headwaters of the Florida Everglades in Kissimmee and offers water-based recreation by canoe and kayak. Visitors paddle approximately two miles along Shingle Creek, the northernmost headwaters of the Everglades system that begins in Orlando and meanders 23 miles before flowing into Lake Tohopekaliga. The creek's 350-mile journey continues through the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, down the Kissimmee River, and into Lake Okeechobee before reaching the Everglades or Gulf of Mexico. While paddling, visitors can observe remnants of the Florida Midland Railroad, which crossed Shingle Creek in 1890. Steffee Landing provides a public canoe and kayak launch area with accessible facilities. The Shingle Creek Regional Trail, a multi-use trail system extending toward Wekiva Springs State Park, offers foot and bicycle access to the park. The location suits paddlers and trail users exploring one of Florida's most significant natural waterways.
