About San Joaquin County Historical Museum

The San Joaquin County Historical Museum reveals the region's heritage from the Miwok and Yokuts Indians through Charles Weber, founder of Stockton, to modern agriculture. Located on 18 acres in Micke Grove Regional Park in Lodi, the museum features multiple exhibition buildings with detailed displays and artifacts. The Cortopassi Avansino Building houses the "Innovators in Agriculture" exhibition, showcasing six historically significant crops: asparagus, cherries, dry beans, canning tomatoes, walnuts, and truck farming. Visitors interact with touch screen displays, examine large agricultural equipment, view small artifacts, and experience a simulated walnut shaker. Additional buildings present Native peoples history, tree and vine cultivation, and regional industrial development. The museum setting encourages family outings and picnic lunches while visitors stroll through exhibits and gain knowledge of San Joaquin County's traditions of ingenuity and innovation in agriculture.
