About Salton Sea State Recreation Area

Salton Sea State Recreation Area encompasses one of the world's largest inland seas with approximately 130 miles of shoreline in the Imperial Valley. Visitors camp, kayak, bird-watch, photograph and hike throughout the park's developed areas. The campground and day-use facilities remain open all day and all night, accommodating trailers and motorhomes up to 35 feet in length. Dogs are permitted in developed areas including roads and campgrounds when leashed to no more than 6 feet and under immediate control, though they are restricted from beaches and trails. The recreation area charges admission. Senior citizens age 62 and over receive a discount of two dollars off per night at campsites. Located in Mecca on Highway 111, the park offers visitor centers, picnic areas, boat launches and parking facilities. Current information and reservation availability appear on parks.ca.gov.
