About Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation
The Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation preserves and opens to visitors the former home of poet Robinson Jeffers in Carmel. Guided tours take visitors through Tor House and Hawk Tower, stone structures on grounds designated a National Historic Landmark in 2024, along with surrounding gardens. The foundation sponsors events including poetry readings and the Robinson Jeffers Fall Festival, publishes work through Tor House Press, and administers the Robinson Jeffers Prize for Poetry, which awards and publishes winning contemporary poetry. Visitors explore the poet's living spaces, including rooms with original furnishings and a piano, and learn about Jeffers's literary and philosophical legacy through the collections maintained on-site. The venue charges admission with different rates for students, and tickets are sold online on the foundation's site.
