Reed's Canoe Trips offers guided paddling adventures on the Kankakee River, one of the region's few natural and unspoiled canoeing streams. Visitors choose from three trips ranging from approximately two hours to a full six hours on the water, suitable for new or experienced canoeists. The outfitter provides both canoe and kayak rentals, 17-foot canoes with paddles, and lifejackets. Children as young as three and weighing at least 35 pounds can participate. The Kankakee River is classified as a Class I stream dotted with islands and quiet backwaters. Paddlers frequently observe deer, raccoons, beavers, songbirds, waterfowl, and occasionally eagles. The river features limestone outcrops and small canyons near the state park. Fishing opportunities include crappies, catfish, bass, and pike. The facility serves groups from families to large church and school outings and provides free parking at headquarters.
