Oaklands Mansion features Victorian Hair Art exhibits alongside self-guided tours of the historic house in Murfreesboro. Visitors explore the mansion's rooms and collections at their own pace, spending roughly 45 minutes to an hour moving through the space. The museum offers special events including Flashlight Night tours decorated in the fashion of Victorian funerals, with scavenger hunts and walks through dimly lit wetland trails. Educational programs include hands-on workshops in Victorian hairwork table braiding and gimp work, where participants create braids and hair flowers while learning traditional techniques. The grounds include gardens, Maney Spring, and the cottage classroom. Self-guided tours run Tuesday through Friday with reservations recommended, though walk-ins are accepted. Weekend availability varies by calendar. Children ages five and under are admitted free.
